In shopping culture, Black Friday sales, seasonal sales are all cause for celebration. With the deals Amazon is offering on Prime Day, shoppers all over the world must be excited.

In its second year in India, Amazon Prime Day starting from 12 noon on July 16 to midnight on July 17 is bigger and better than ever! From deals on exclusive product launches, like the limited edition OnePlus 6 Red, to airing new blockbusters on Prime Video like 102 Not Out and Raazi, Amazon has gone all out on their marketing for Prime Day this year.

Looking out the window with Prime

Apart from the obvious deals and discounts, Amazon has been marketing Prime Day through interactive experience like their Boxtropolis world. For those of who live in Bangalore and Mumbai, if you’re travelling back from the airport in an Uber, you might have taken part in Amazon’s AR experience. Using the AR headset the Uber driver will hand you, the windows of the Uber will convert into a virtual display board that presents the details of Prime Day, highlighting the benefits for Prime members, and showcasing the top releases on Prime Video.

As for their VR experience, Amazon has designed for their customers to be able to view their products up close and life-size in select malls in Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore and Kolkata. Apart from product launches, customers will also get a virtual theatre experience and enjoy trailers of the 7 Prime Video titles premiering for Prime Day, including the latest Bollywood blockbuster Raazi and the all-new Amazon Prime Original series Comicstaan, in a virtual theatre experience. Add to that, the virtual theatre experience that will display the trailers of 7 Prime Video titles that are set to premiere on Prime Day, including the much-promoted and awaited Prime Original series Comicstaan. Comicstaan is a competition that features famous comedians like Tanmay Bhat, Kenny Sebastian, Biswa Kalyan Rath, Kanan Gill, Sapan Verma, Kaneez Surka, and Naveen Richard as the jury and is hosted by Abish Mathew and Sumukhi Suresh. These Experience Zones have a Prime Day Wall where customers can take selfies and post them with the hashtags #PrimeDayVR & #AmazonPrimeDay as well as participate in quizzes to win Prime Day merchandise.

You may have also caught large installations of a peacock, rainbow, or an auto with one significant date- Prime Day! The date #16July trended nationally on Twitter on 5th July for 3 hours – driving a reach of 13MM (47MM impressions) with over 7k conversations. Some of the conversations around the hashtag were – “Katrina Kaif birthday on #16July”, “Is the peacock a symbol of the next Android update”, “Is a Salmaan Khan movie releasing on #16July” − until the big reveal on 7th July!

These installations had a specific QR code that upon scanning allowed you to participate in a competition with one easy question, “When is Prime Day 2018?” Those who entered had a chance to win gift cards worth INR 5000.
