adidas united with KidZania India for its biggest global running movement – Run for the Oceans 2018 to raise awareness towards the threat of marine plastic pollution. KidZania in collaboration with adidas has introduced a purposeful initiative ‘Kids for a Greener World’ with an objective to build awareness and inculcate in children a sense of responsibility to take action and protect the oceans that are increasingly endangered due to man-made issues including pollution, waste and growing consumption.
Kids for a Greener World familiarized kids to the marine environment through unique experiences focused on education, creativity, direct action and sports. The goal was to engage and empower tomorrow’s ‘Ocean Guardians’ by encouraging them to harness their imaginations and be ambassadors for the cause. A month long initiative by adidas and KidZania inspired 10,658 kids across KidZania Delhi NCR & KidZania Mumbai to participate in poster making workshops to create designs out of plastic waste. The program introduced children to the underwater world, teaching them about the impacts of marine plastic pollution and giving them the tools and inspiration to protect their future.
The initiative also led to the participation of children in Run for the Oceans 2018 at Versova beach, Mumbai on June 16, 2018 further inspiring them that millions of little steps can make a huge difference towards this global movement.
Sean van Wyk, Senior Marketing Director, adidas India asserted, “We can reshape our future by inspiring and empowering the next generation. adidas in this unique collaboration with KidZania was able to raise awareness of ocean plastic pollution and engage children and parents in actions and habits for reversing the destruction. We are delighted with an overwhelming response from the kids and shall continue to strengthen effort towards teaching our children early that sustainability should be taken seriously.”
Ms. Sona Mazumdar, Director – Strategic Partnerships, KidZania India said “Water is the source of all life on this planet and we are joined hands with adidas to support their initiative of preserving our planet for the next generation. We believe that today’s children are tomorrow’s leaders and the attitude towards sustainability and environmental conservation should be developed in them right from a young age. Hence, we are engaging with the children and their parents in ways which appeal to them, helping us to get the message across. We are elated with the response that we have got and highly motivated to spread the word and extend our efforts towards preservation of the oceans, ravaged by plastics, as much as possible.”
