Digital has really evolved over the last couple of years, it started off with social and now it is becoming more digital in how you interact with the consumer when they are in the digital space. So it is no longer just good enough to have just a Facebook message or a social site or tweets, you need to be present where the consumer is looking for your brand or where your brand fits in. The absence of your brand is not noticed in the short-term but in the long-term if you are absent from the digital media space it can be very deadly to the brand. The second part of digital marketing and what makes it that much more important is the consumers’ expectation’s to have an Omni-channel experience. They expect to interact with the brand to the extent where now the term ‘Phygital’ has come into place, where the physical store and the digital store are being combined. So digital has taken on a new meaning not only in terms of being active and present there but also to meet the customer expectations of having an Omni-channel experience.
