On the changing role of sales to adapt to the digital age…
The industry where I come from – healthcare and diagnostics I think legacy of methods of sale are still in practice and the traditional methods are still important. The need is to evolve a hybrid sales person or a hybrid marketer. Conventional methods in the sense of building rapport with your audience, like in healthcare we have got doctors. There a big need for a personal connect which is imperative in any case but having said that digital is the need for the hour but it has to be the right balance between digital and legacy because the doctors are still more comfortable with conventional methods of interaction and healthcare is all about touch and feel so having said that in the same breath I think there is the need. The need for the hour is to evolve digital platforms where you can interact with your doctors because healthcare has still been primarily a prescriptive business but there is a big need to interact, share knowledge with doctors as a pathologist we can tell them about best practices which will help them with their diagnosis and prognosis so definitely thats the end thing but the need is to evolve like a hybrid sales person.
