A female entrepreneur you admire and why?
Probably my answer to this question will be viewed differently. I do not have one single number to say. I admire hundreds and hundreds of MSME women entrepreneurs who work un noticing in India, keeping the economy rolling down effectively. Many are not aware that MSME entrepreneurs offer employment close to 70% of the unskilled and semi skilled work force and also contribute to India’s GDS greatly. Irrespective of the industry, product or service their struggles to uphold the entrepreneurship in spite of not getting enough support from all sources is commendable. That too in Tamil nadu the recent floods had brought their business to practically zero and they are struggling to build it once again from the beginning. I salute all of them. Names may not be known to public. Being a MSME entrepreneur myself I am proud of them.
MANTRA for success:
There is a general social opinion that good and ethical people suffer and all evil wins and carry the light of success. I disagree with this view. As a first generation entrepreneur for the past 26 years in power electronics industry, I have been in business following ethics and still I have survived with many feathers to my cap. Probably I may be the only Indian entrepreneur, who possesses a master’s degree in History, and still running an electronics industry. Hence I wish to say that life may take you somewhere, do not panic, take the strings and work hard and follow the light. Smart and hard work will certainly take you to better heights.
BE ETHICAL IN YOUR BUSINESS REST WILL FOLLOW. Even a bad unethical company or individual expects their supplier to be ethical and give a product or service with a value for money. As for as MSME sector is concerned YOU ARE A BRAND YOUR SELF AND YOUR CREDIBILTY will retain your clients, enabling you to run the business.
Being your own boss:
There is a huge difference between an entrepreneur and an employee. Many say that they jump into business because they like the independence of not being answered to anybody. What they fail to understand is:” AS AN ENTREPRENEUR YOU ARE A POLICEMAN TO YOUR SELF” unless you watch your steps, you fail miserably. Being all the more responsible is ultimate and that too 24/7 and 365 days. You are not reporting to one boss, you report to many clients who are so different and it is a task to keep them happy and satisfied. Yet if you accomplish it, it is a wonderful identity one gets, enjoys and feels proud about it.
My dWEN experience:
It was a very unique experience and pleasure to meet women from different walks of life and it made me feel so nice being part of it.
