Pursuing yet another defining focus that influences the rapid economic development in India, The Economic Times announces the third edition of the Architecture & Design Summit 2015, scheduled on 10th & 11th September 2015 in Bangalore. With an aim to comprehend the design vision for our nation, the summit theme TRANSFORMATION 2020 will be at par with international standards.

The 3rd edition of The Economic Times Architecture & Design Summit 2015 will commence with the regional phase and enable break-thorough discussions & seamless interactions to identify ideal practices for the rapidly evolving skyline of our country. To achieve the vision of a developed urban infrastructure for India, the summit will explore viable options for the tier 2 cities of southern India by understanding and adapting the latest trends, sustainable designs and upcoming technologies to improve the infrastructure despite challenges like land crunches, rocketing resource costs, managing talent pool and uncertainty in the whole environment.

From understanding the role of states in aligning architecture with India’s transformation agenda to discussing the research based trends for urban transformation for residential & commercial areas; the panel discussions at Transformation 2020 will address the need-gap for the vertical and horizontal metamorphosis that is linked with the three smart city projects being developed by the government.

Taking the leap by establishing a strong framework to achieve the vision of a developed urban infrastructure for India; the parameters of functionality, sustainability and aesthetics will be explored at the summit discussions. Aiding to the massive infrastructure development projects in the pipeline, the considerations will help create a unique footprint of designs at par with the development mission for the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) for 500 Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana: Housing for All by 2022 along with the 100 Smart Cities.

Focussing on 5 cities in the southern region of India; Cochin, Chennai, Hyderabad, Coimbatore and Vizag, the program will help establish a global outreach platform for local talent with the Architecture and Design Awards. The grand finale will be held in Bangalore. Identifying excellence at design institutes across India, the awards are open to students to showcase their vision within two categories -Best Academic Project and Best Design of Futuristic Cities. The winners will receive an internship with a renowned architect, trophy and certificate of recognition.

With the support of architects to create newer living spaces, smart cities and infrastructure development, the summit is committed to celebrating and developing architecture from leading architectural practitioners, contractors, developers, policy makers and engineers. Bringing together industry stakeholders from across the region, this summit provides an excellent opportunity to learn from and get inspired by leaders from the architectural community and explore the potential that the region has to offer.
