Abhishek N from Bangalore clinched first place in the latest edition of CricIQ Doosra – the country’s only multi-format and multi-platform cricket quiz. Abhishek N fought his way through multiple stages of the eleven-week long competition against formidable talent, culminating in the finale against five other competitors. Abhishek, who works in finance by day and volunteers for the UN in his spare time, holds the distinction of being one of India’s most knowledgeable cricket lovers. Inching close was Divyanshu Srivastava, who finished second. Others who made it to the finals include Shivram G and Jijo John.

The CricIQ Doosra was designed to give passionate cricket lovers and avid quizzers a second chance to participate in CricIQ – which proved hugely popular in its first incarnation. In the true spirit of second chances, Abhishek emerged a winner after a close miss in the knockout round of CricIQ Season 1.

“CricIQ was an exciting journey that not only tested my knowledge but also the pace at which I answered. Each online attempt threw up different sets of questions with different levels of difficulty. However, anyone could make the cut with just one good performance. Thanks to ESPNcricinfo and everyone involved to have come up with such a quiz. I am looking forward to the future editions.” says Abhishek N.

The three month long competition kicked off with cricket lovers across the country logging in to tackle questions online, on a variety of cricket-related topics. Leveraging the strength of ESPNcricinfo’s unmatched cricket information repository, CricIQ Doosra’s format was designed for fast, exciting and immersive gameplay.

On ESPNcricinfo’s expectations from the second edition, Ramesh Kumar, Head of ESPNcricinfo and ESPN Digital Media said “We had strong expectations following the success of the first edition of CricIQ, and the results from CricIQ Doosra have surpassed those. With an improved and expanded question bank, the engagement of nearly 100,000 contestants, and an amazing story of second chances paying dividends from our champion, it has solidified CricIQ as the definitive cricket quiz. We’re excited to congratulate Abhishek N, and look forward to continuing to grow this exciting competition in the future with some great plans in the works.”

The first season of CricIQ saw the average fan spending 9+ minutes on every visit to the property, via web and mobile. Additionally, in this edition, the game’s exhaustive question bank was expanded significantly with thousands of new questions added, setting the stage for high-quality online quizzing and competition.
