A. Kiran Majumdar Shaw. A role model in true sense. Risen from a trainee brew master to the head of a billion dollar biotech company on her own. She has made a place in an industry which has been purely male dominated.
Q. Mantra for success is?
A. Have intent and work hard towards it. Don’t depend on luck. Courage to learn from you failures.
Q. Being your own boss is…
A. Freedom but with a lot of responsibility.
Q. Your DWEN experience and how would you sum it?
A. A truly humbling experience to see and meet so many women achievers from various walks of life. My own success appeared small when I learnt about their achievements, their lives, their struggles, etc.
Profile: Manjula Chawla is a senior partner at Phoenix Legal. Manjula’s practice concentrates in the areas of strategic corporate investments, corporate finance and restructuring, mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, and general corporate and commercial matters. Manjula co-founded Phoenix Legal in 2008 with three partners also well recognized in the fields of corporate commercial and finance laws. Phoenix Legal is a full service law firm offering an extensive range of transactional, regulatory, advisory and dispute resolution services.
She is actively involved with various legal, business and social committees. She is currently a member of the Corporate Affairs Committee of PHD Chamber of Commerce and the member of the National Committee on Dispute Resolution of CII (Confederation of Indian Industries) tasked to set-up and develop the CII Centre for Mediation and Conciliation to provide institutionalized forum for resolving commercial disputes among corporate.
